A Creative Streak

Abby and I hit the ground running this morning and caught up on my chores (there always seem to be so many after the day I work LOL).  Laundry, housework, cleaned out the van and did some weeding while the little ones played before it got too hot.....pancakes for brunch.....then I hit my ironing board and sewing machine and ended the day with this....

My new diaper bag/purse.  It is huge.....6 generous outside pockets and 6 huge inside pockets.  I chose the material the same day that little Bear got his hair cut......like a consolation prize for a distraught momma.

I've got the most beautiful lace scarf on needles right now......hand dyed yard from Knit Picks.  (Shadow Tonal in Summer Blooms I think)

I can't really think of anything else to share right now....we've got lots going on, but I'm going to keep mum about most of it.  I'll share when I can and I'll be sure to update as I finish projects....staying busy!!!!!!

Sorry for the Delay

I wish I could say that the reason I haven't been posting was because I was hard-working on a big project or marking things off the never-ending to-do list, but alas, I was ill.  Very sick, taking the cold meds every 3 hrs., probably going to die anyway, sick.  I did not, however, die (hurray!) so I am back to work on the never-ending to-do list.

Norman is on vacation this week, which was a blessing since I was so sick.  He was able to deal with kids and meals so that the whole thing didn't go to the pooper while I was down.  Since my recovery, he and whoever else is around have been going to the lake fishing.  So yesterday I decided to sew :)

This is the FREE pattern I was using:  Pillowcase Dress from 3 Fat quarters

And here are the completed pictures:
I added the little "belt" with leftover bias tape.  I stitched it on in the front and left it loose to tie in the back.  The reason was that the pattern was only sized down to a 2T and Abby wears an 18 month so it was really big on her.

I also made the shoulder ties shorter and took an extra half inch in the casing at the top.

This morning Abby modeled it before church.  It should have taken about 2 hours to make, but Abby was lonely so I had to play.  I still got it done in an afternoon.

See how I pulled the extra width in at the back?  Makes it loose but fitted at the same time.  I think it turned out so sweet and it is lightweight (cotton) so it won't be so hot.  I will absolutely be making more!

Now to work on a dress for Easter.........

I'll try to post more next week.  Abby and I are going to go play :)

Baby Burp Cloths

Today's project was some burp cloths for our minister's new grandbaby.  The expecting mother doesn't like pink (gasp!!!!) so I went with neutral yellow and green.

A set of 3.  I thought that they turned out cute.

Rolled and tied up with some ribbon.....

Wrapped and tied with more ribbon.

Bear and Abby played in Abby's crib while I was sewing.

BEAR took this picture of me and Abby.  It is a terrible picture of me (why do I have such bags under my eyes????) but I doubt that there are many pictures of me and Abby so I thought I would share one.  You can see Sadie sleeping on the couch in the background.  LOL

So that was my day.  I got the burp cloths done and wrapped, I got the review done.  Bear, Abby and I played a lot and all the boys played outside.  Super Bowl party tomorrow!!!!!  Go Steelers!

Strawberry Shortcake Blanket - For Sale

I just finished making this adorable Strawberry Shortcake blanket.....and it is FOR SALE!

The design side is cotton print, the reverse is chenille.  It measures a generous 36 inches by 54 inches, perfect for a little girls toddler bed or as a throw for a bigger girl.  Price is $30 plus shipping, if necessary.

I am in love with it!  Don't despair for Abby, I have more Strawberry Shortcake material set aside to make something super cute for her :)
